Abstract / Introduction
Web packages are steadily shifting into cloud environments. These cloud services are hosted on large scale computation and storage infrastructures known as facts facilities (DC) (e.G. Google’s statistics middle, Facebook’s information middle and many others.). In a massive- scale records middle, masses of lots of servers are related thru switches in a symmetric topology. A information middle network (DCN) interconnects all of the records center assets. Data Center TCP (DCTCP) is a modified version of TCP that is proposed specifically for intra-DCN communique [1].
DCTCP, although, performs substantially better than TCP in facts centers however nonetheless suffers from performance issues; DCTCP incurs large packet drops because of bursty glide arrivals (many-to-one conversation).
This project objectives to:
i) identify the causes of packet drops in the event of bursty arrivals, ii) endorse answer(s) to mitigate the packet loss trouble.
The problem might be studied via simulating DCN environment in community simulator ns-2. In addition, the proposed solution can also be implemented in ns-2. Working in ns-2 calls for:
i) expertise of primary commands of Linux running structures (for ns-2 installation and running functions),
ii) precise programming talents in C++ (for simulating the DCN environment and making the specified adjustments in DCTCP),
iii) programming in TCL (for writing simulation scripts),
iv) knowledge of AWK command (for hint textual content processing), v) know-how GNUPLOT command (for drawing graphs).

Intended Outcome
Implementation, in ns-2, of modifications in DCTCP to reduce packet drops

1. Understanding of primary Linux instructions
2. C++, TCL, AWK and GNUPLOT (for running in ns-2)
